Media Folders

Organize your media library with folders for better management

Media Folders

Folders help you organize your media library as your content grows. Keep your files structured and easy to find with support for unlimited nesting levels.

Creating Folders

  1. In Media, click New Folder
  2. Enter a folder name
  3. Click Create

To create a nested folder:

  1. Navigate to the parent folder
  2. Click New Folder
  3. The new folder is created inside the current folder

Nested Folders

Screenzzie supports unlimited folder nesting levels, allowing you to create deep organizational structures.

When inside nested folders, a breadcrumb trail shows your current location:

Media > Images > Products > Summer Collection

Click any breadcrumb to jump directly to that folder level.

Tree View Mode

For complex folder hierarchies, use the Tree View toggle to see your entire folder structure at a glance:

  • Expand/collapse folders with the arrow icons
  • Drag files directly to folders in the tree
  • See file counts per folder

Moving Files

Single File

  1. Select the file
  2. Click Move
  3. Choose destination folder
  4. Confirm

Drag and Drop

Drag files directly onto folders in:

  • The folder list in the sidebar
  • The tree view
  • Any visible folder icon

Folder Actions

Right-click a folder or use the folder menu for these actions:

  • Open - Navigate into the folder
  • Rename - Change the folder name
  • Delete - Remove the folder and all contents

Folder deletion is permanent. When you delete a folder, all files inside are permanently deleted, not moved to root. This includes all nested subfolders and their contents.

Deleting Folders with Contents

When deleting a folder that contains files or subfolders:

  1. A confirmation dialog shows what will be deleted
  2. You'll see the count of files and subfolders affected
  3. Confirm to proceed with recursive deletion
  4. All contents are permanently removed

Before deleting a folder, consider moving any files you want to keep to another location first.

Deleting Empty Folders

Empty folders can be deleted immediately without additional confirmation.

Quick Navigation

  • Click a folder to open it
  • Breadcrumbs to go back to parent folders
  • Home icon to return to the root level
  • Tree view for quick access to any folder

Best Practices

  • Plan your structure - Sketch out your folder hierarchy before creating it
  • Use consistent naming - Stick to a naming convention (e.g., lowercase, hyphens)
  • Don't nest too deep - 3-4 levels is usually sufficient
  • Archive old campaigns - Move completed campaigns to an "Archive" folder instead of deleting
  • Review quarterly - Clean up unused folders and reorganize as needed
