File Validation
Before upload completes, Screenzzie performs multiple validation checks:
Validation Steps
- MIME type check - Verifies the file type matches supported formats
- File size check - Ensures the file is within plan limits
- Image validation - For images, the Sharp library validates the file is a valid, non-corrupted image
- Content integrity - Confirms the file is complete and processable
File Size Limits
| File Type | Max Size |
|---|---|
| Images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF) | 20 MB |
| Videos (MP4, WebM) | 100 MB |
If Upload Fails
Common reasons for failure:
| Error | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unsupported format | Wrong file type | Convert to supported format |
| File too large | Exceeds limit | Compress or split file |
| Invalid image | Corrupted file | Re-export from source |
| Upload timeout | Slow connection | Retry on faster network |
| Storage full | Plan limit reached | Delete old files or upgrade |
Optimization Tips
For Images
- Save as JPEG for photos (smaller size)
- Use PNG only when transparency needed
- Resize to display resolution before upload
- Screenzzie auto-compresses, so upload at full quality
Images are automatically optimized on upload. JPEGs and WebPs are compressed to 85% quality, and PNGs without transparency are converted to JPEG for better performance.
For Videos
- Use H.264 codec in MP4 container
- Target bitrate: 5-10 Mbps for 1080p
- Trim to exact length needed
- Remove audio if not needed (smaller file)
After Upload
Once uploaded, you can:
- Preview the file
- Rename if needed
- Move to a folder
- Add to playlists
- See file details
Batch Operations
For working with multiple files efficiently:
Selecting Multiple Files
- Individual selection - Click the checkbox on each file
- Select All - Click the "Select All" button to select all visible files
- Deselect All - Click "Deselect All" to clear your selection
Available Bulk Actions
Once files are selected, you can:
- Move to folder - Organize selected files into a folder
- Add to Playlist - Add all selected media to an existing playlist
- Delete selected - Remove multiple files at once
When deleting files that are currently used in playlists, you'll be asked to confirm a force delete. This will remove the media from all playlists where it's used.
Force Delete Workflow
If you try to delete media that's in use:
- A warning dialog appears showing where the media is used
- You can Cancel to keep the files
- Or choose Force Delete to remove the files and all playlist references
